Everyday tips for drinking more water

Drinking water at key moments can make a big difference to your health* throughout the day. So, make drinking water a normal part of daily life and establish a hydration habit. Habits are often associated with specific situations, such as at work, at the gym or out for a walk. To develop habits, researchers advise consistently drinking water in a situation where it is easy, for example when sitting down at the desk or returning home. The more often a behaviour is repeated in the same situation, the easier it will become – turning into a habit.

For example, you could start your day with a glass of water before coffee or tea or keep a bottle nearby and sip regularly, especially during work or study sessions. If plain water feels boring, try adding fresh fruit slices or sugar-free cordial for a refreshing twist. If you find still waters a little unexciting, why not try a sparkling one? The fizz can lift the drink and make it feel a little more special.
